The Five Stages of Breaking Free From Limiting Thoughts | Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith

Stage 1: Illumination: Peek inside of yourself.

Crafted into your personal story are unique colors of life. The pastels of joy, the neutral colors of everyday activities, the vivid streaks of pains, and the bold accents of victory. The Creator creates unique masterpieces out of the ups and downs of your life. If you look close enough, you will see the Creator’s signature of approval sealed upon you.

Stage 2: Activation: Change is hard work and it may involve sweat

Activation energy is the energy needed for change to occur. It is the push that causes you to gravitate towards a new way of thinking and living. Activation energy moves you toward the promises of God. It propels you like an arrow towards God’s bull’s-eye for your best life. It sets in motion a series of events that have the potential to transfer positive, life-giving energy back into the dying areas of your life.

Stage 3: Transition: Stretched to the max, but rebounding with grace

Change is not easy, but with the right momentum, it can become easier. If I drop a weight on a trampoline, gravity will pull it along the course of least resistance. Past pain can just as easily pull you down a path of unhappiness. Once the weight hits the trampoline, it will either break through and crash, or it will rebound to a higher level. Feeling stretched to the max? Which will it be, crash or rebound? Use the energy created to rebound with grace.

Stage 4: Expulsion: Dynamic interference required

Mental ties produce movement towards self-condemnation. Such thoughts must be forcefully expelled for freedom to arise. Each time a mental tie tries to entangle itself around your life, interference interrupts to break the bond. Scripture, worship, and prayer are all forms of interference. There is life and death in the power of the tongue. What you say about yourself to yourself matters, so it’s important that you are saying positive things.

Stage 5: Detachment: Cut the ties (snip, snip)

Some things are meant to be lost. What mental baggage have you collected? You can overcome negative concepts and mindsets. As God’s plan of freedom opens to you, it weakens the status of negative mental ties. Each spiritual promise snips away at binding thoughts, a final detachment that releases you to be content to be you and allows movement towards a happier life.
